Dr. Huaiyu Shao, currently is an assistant professor at Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME) at University of Macau. Before this position, he was an assistant professor at International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I2CNER), Kyushu University. His research focuses on development of next generation energy storage technologies based on hydrogen energy and battery electrode materials.
He got his BS and PhD in chemistry from Peking University, China. He worked as a postdoc in National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan from July of 2005 to March of 2009 and in Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung, Germany from April of 2009 to April of 2011. He has published 57 scientific papers at journals such as Nano Energy, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Journal of Power Sources, Nanotechnology, Journal of Physical Chemistry C, with a total of over 1000 citations (Scopus, h-index of 20), ), as well as one edited book, 2 special issues for SCI journals, 6 book chapters. He has given more than 55 oral presentations in international conferences and academic visits and about 30 of them are invited talks or plenary ones. He contributes to organizing sessions for international conferences such as American Chemical Society (ACS) National Meeting 2013 Fall (Indianapolis, USA), U.S. National Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (USNCTAM2014, East Lansing, USA), the 1st International Young Scientists Fusion Forum (2013, Chengdu, China), 2016 International Conference on Small Science (Prague, Czech), 2016 Macau Summit on Carbon and Energy Materials (Macau, China), 2017 International Conference on Environmental and Energy Engineering (Suzhou, China), 2018 International Conference on Nanoscience& Technology (New York, USA). He serves as reviewer for 30 scientific journals including Nature Communications, Nano Energy, Energy Storage Materials, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, etc. He also serves as editorial board member for 4 Journals including Journal of Nanomaterials, Current Nanomaterials, etc. Since 2011, he is an international grant-proposal reviewer for Romanian National Research Council.
He will make a keynote speech on "Mg and Ti Based Metastable Nano Alloys for Energy Storage Development".
